If you fancy making a quick buck by switching current accounts, you need to hurry - this free cash deal is back for four weeks only.

Alliance & Leicester (www.alliance-leicester.co.uk) is offering £100 to new customers who switch to its Premier current account or Premier 50 current account from Thursday 30 April until Thursday 28 May.

“Now is a great time to give your finances a cash boost.”

The cash boost will be paid within four months of the account opening. To qualify you must transfer any direct debits and standing orders from your existing current account using the Premier switching service. Additionally, if you open a Premier current account you must fund it with at least £500 within 11 weeks.

Gillian Almond, current account manager at Alliance & Leicester, said: “whether you are a winner or a loser coming out of the recent budget, now is a great time to review your family finances and give them a cash boost.”

As well as taking advantage of this £100 offer, Almond advises those looking to improve their finances to assess the direct debits that are currently coming out of their account.

She said: “There may be things you are paying for and do not use or need, maybe gym membership that you having given up on, or mobile phone insurance or car breakdown cover which you might be covered for elsewhere.”

Chris Eagle, commercial manager at CreditChoices.co.uk, urges people to act fast if they want to take advantage of this time-limited offer.

He said: “Sorting out our finances is something we’re all guilty of putting on the back burner sometimes, but if you want £100 cash, for free, you need to assess your current account now and get ready to switch it from Thursday.”

“It’s worth noting however that you won’t be classed as a new customer if you currently have a current account with Alliance & Leicester or Abbey, as both are now owned by Santander.”
