NatWest customers get exclusive 0% balance transfer credit card

Monday, 18 May 2009 Writes Hazel Cottrell hazel.cottrell@consumerchoices.co.uk

Are you a NatWest customer? You could benefit from 0% on balance transfers for 15 months with its new Platinum credit card.

NatWest (www.natwest.com) is offering existing customers a 15-month 0% balance transfer Platinum credit card.

“If you do transfer a large debt to this card, you should avoid doing any further spending on it.”

This 15-month deal is the longest 0% balance transfer deal Natwest has ever offered.

You can take advantage of this offer if you have any kind of NatWest product, such as a current account, mortgage or insurance, and are earning at least £10,000.

A balance transfer fee of 2.9% applies and the card comes with a typical APR of 16.9%.

The Platinum credit card also comes with a three-month 0% on purchases deal. However, Chris Eagle, commercial manager at CreditChoices.co.uk, warns against making balance transfers and spending on the same card.

He said: “This card is a great option for existing NatWest customers who want to avoid paying interest while clearing their debts. However, if you do transfer a large debt to this card, you should avoid doing any further spending on it.

“A little clause called negative payment hierarchy means your repayments will be allocated to your cheapest debts first and if you do spend on the card, you will be paying the standard rate of interest on new purchases until your entire balance is cleared.”
