Gold Credit Cards
What are Gold Credit Cards?
Gold credit cards are reserved for relatively high earners with blemish free credit histories, and offer high credit balances as a result. The typical criterion to be met by a successful gold card applicant is:
- You must be 25 or over
- You must earn £25,000+
- You must have an excellent credit history
What are the Benefits of a Gold Credit Card?
Gold credit cards often offer both 0% on purchases and 0% on balance transfer introductory deals. Other benefits can include such diversities as free travel accident insurance policies and extended warranties.
What else should I know about Gold Credit Cards?
- Beware of cards that offer 0% on purchases deals in conjunction with 0% balance transfer deals. The point of transferring the balance is consolidation, not to facilitate more spending.
- Interest on cash withdrawals is high, sometimes up to 25%.
- Prestige credit cards are exclusive, and if you don’t meet the specified criteria then the likelihood of having your application for a gold card accepted is minimal.
