Interest free credit cards

Credit cards can have some of the highest rates of interest of any form of borrowing. For some people, the interest paid every month eats into their earnings. It’s important, therefore, to know how much interest you are paying on your credit card each month and, if possible, to switch to an interest free credit card instead.

There are plenty of deals which can help you borrow for longer without paying interest, you just need to know how to find the right one for you. Before signing up to any credit card or borrowing agreement, you must read the small print and know precisely what you are agreeing to.

There are two main types of interest free credit card: 0% on purchases credit cards and 0% balance transfer credit cards.

0% on purchases credit cards

This type of credit card allows you to make purchases without paying interest for a certain period of time. This type of interest free credit card is useful if you want to make interest free purchases, as long as you know you can repay the balance before the promotion finishes.

0% balance transfer credit cards.

This option allows you move debt from one credit card to another, and to stop paying interest on that borrowing. This is good if you are focused on paying off the debt, and know you can do so within the allocated interest free period. It is important not to make any purchases on this type of interest free credit card. Purchases will not be interest free and may even incur particularly high interest.
