Direct Line started up in the UK in 1985 as a car insurance company, when customers could only buy their insurance over the phone. Direct Line now has over five million customers, 9000 employees and a broad range of products and services, including Direct Line loans. Their business is conducted online and over the phone, and it operates in Germany, Italy and Spain as well as the UK.
Applying online for a Direct Line loan takes about 15 minutes, and Direct Line will email you to confirm that your details have been received. There’s no arrangement fee, and Direct Line aims to give you an answer within ten working hours of receiving your application. You can borrow from £2,000 to £25,000 over 2 to 7 years (depending on your loan amount).
If your application is unsuccessful, Direct Line will notify you by email. If it is successful, you will get a call to confirm the details. Your agreement will be issued the next day. Once you have returned it to Direct Line and the final checks have been completed, the funds will be transferred into your bank account. If you choose the Express Next Working Day Transfer option, this will take one working day.
